1. A time a failed miserably in this class was when I accidentally watched all the wrong lectures for a particular cupcake we had. I had just finished watching all the lectures I felt so confident I was going to know everything I needed to to get a 100% on the exam, but as soon as the quiz opened up and I knew nothing. I thought to myself how is this possible I spent hours preparing for this quiz to not know anything, it was a terrible feeling I felt as if all my time was wasted.
2. What I learned was that I needed to be more focus. At time I can find myself almost on auto-pilot where I am just going through the motions as people say, rather that being in consciously in the moment. Another thing I had to learn was better time management because I was in a bit of a hurry to finish watching the lectures therefore since I was in a rush I was not paying full attention to what I had to get done.
3. Failure is most definitely hard, and certainly embarrassing I could not believe the hours I had just wasted preparing for the cupcake. What I did learn was to remain calm even though I did not know the material I was able to think and reason logically making me able to get three out of five correct which was way better than 0. I think this class has for sure made me more likely to accept risk. I think the best advances you make in life are when you take major risk.
Hey David,
ReplyDeleteI am sure it was very disheartening to realize that you had watched the wrong lectures. Not too long ago I read the wrong chapter for financial accounting and although I had a while to correct my mistake before the quiz it was still disappointing because the chapters are very long. Failure can be disappointing but it can also help us learn. For example I learned a whole extra chapter of financial accounting.
Hey David,
ReplyDeleteI actually did the same exact thing for one of the earlier cupcakes that we had and it was terrible. Thankfully I knew some of the answers because I took marketing last semester and the quiz had some of the things I learned in that class. I think a lot of the time I run on autopilot as you said and don't really think about what I'm trying to accomplish which is definitely something to think about.
Hey David, the weekly cupcakes can be challenging if you did not watch the weekly videos or take good enough notes. They are important, however, and I think they play an essential role in the teaching of this class but forcing us to watch the videos and take good notes. Being cool under pressure is a great skill to have and is clutch
